How to Get Direct Download Link From OneDrive - WORKING - Power IT Pro Tip

Question

• Need a direct download link for single file on OneDrive.live.com ? 
• Do you find the normal OneDrive "Get a link" which bring  you to one drive site an show multiple files a little confusing? (especially for novices)

Solution

After a bit of creative attempts, I figured out how to download files directly without the link bring you to the OneDrive site.
Here's how:

In OneDrive, right-click on the file you are interested in download, and choose Embed.

This will bring up the Embed pop-up.

Highlight and copy the embed HTML code. Paste into text editor.

<iframe frameborder="0" height="120" scrolling="no" src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=8F99649728BEB2F3&resid=8F99649728BEB2F3%212780&authkey=AHGTayWelaWRDMA" width="98"></iframe>

Extract the link, and you will get link look like this:
https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=8F99649728BEB2F3&resid=8F99649728BEB2F3%212780&authkey=AHGTayWelaWRDMA
Replace embed? to download? See link below after replace:
https://onedrive.live.com/download?cid=8F99649728BEB2F3&resid=8F99649728BEB2F3%212780&authkey=AHGTayWelaWRDMA

Now you can share this link-> to directly download the file from OneDrive OR use as hyperlink in blogs for file downloads.

Creating a "Get a Link" and share publicly, you will get link look like this:

Replace redir? to download? See link below after replace:
